Ramanan, a comedy character role performed by Malayalam actor Harisree Ashokan in the super hit Malayalam movie, Punjabi House, which is released on 1998, Directed by Rafi Mecartin.  Though the main hero role of the movie is performed by famous actor Dileep, it is well known that the movie got super hit mainly because of the character performed by Harisree Ashokan (Ramanan in the Movie).  Ramanan (Harisree AShokan) along with Gangadharan Mothalali (Kochin Haneeffa ) performed outstandingly in the movie, and the combo produced some of the greatest Malayalam comedy scenes which even in 2016, people are talking about and laughing about.

When Punjabi house released on 1998, there were not many social networking sites available, or the internet is not so popular, but after around 2010 when the internet is become so popular, and people started using Facebook, people started making trolls based on social issues and  social atrocities, movie actors were the perfect choices for Trollans to make those trolls, and Ramanan, in the movie Punjabi House, became one of the favorite characters for making trolls.  Every small or big news which is happening around the world will be trolled immediately with Ramanan.   Harisree Ashokan, along with Salim kumar (another greatest comedy actor Malayalam film industry produced) are the main tool which people used to troll on social subjects.  Anything under the sun, anything under the sea is not free from getting trolled by Ramanan.

The famous Trolling pages in the Facebook are Troll Malayalam and International Chalu Union, where in Ramanan is one of their main source of comedy.

It is a fact that Harisree Ashokan may be remembered in the future not by his own name, but the character he played in the movie, Punjabi House, as Ramanan.
